My
Commitment to You

Just by being alive we are constantly confronted with change. We graduate
from school, we marry, become parents, get promoted, we move, a parent
dies, we sell a business, start a new one and so on.
"The only thing constant in
life is change."
Chaung Tzu - 300 B.C.
We can choose to change in a particular way. We can choose
to participate in ways that impact the direction and the course of our
life.
- How can you become more
effective in managing the changes life brings you?
|
- How can you be more productive
in creating the changes you want to experience?
|
- Who can you go to when your
life is changing and you are challenged to change with it?
|
- What can you do when, as a
healthy functioning adult, you find yourself presented
with a situation that you seem unable to handle?
|
- Who can you turn to when you
want to increase your level of success and have greater
effectiveness in your life?
|
You can choose to go to someone who can assist you -
someone who is a trained observer - someone who can guide you into taking
effective actions to produce the changes you want. This person is called a
coach.

A coach is someone who helps you
identify your most important personal and professional goals, eliminate
the barriers that have prevented you from achieving the in the past and
help you take the actions to make those goals a reality. Coaching is for
people who want assistance with specific professional or personal issues,
or in achieving goals, changes or dreams. We work together to design and
reach for the future you have always wanted!

A solid helping relationship is vital
to change. It is important to get feedback and feel cared for. As a
trained therapist I am a skilled listener. I am aware of the dynamics of
change and able to support you at each stage of the change process. And as
a change agent my skill is to motivate and inspire you to action.
"The . . . service a [coach] can really render is to keep your courage by holding up
to you a mirror by which you can see the noble image of yourself. "
- George Bernard Shaw -
I will address your situation with honesty and caring. I will encourage
you to take responsibility for the situation and support you in being the
source of creative change in your life. I will help you move from victim
to empowerment. Yet, I will not encourage you to take action before you
are ready for it. Your inner process is our guide. I entrust your inner
wisdom to guide us in honoring your process in a dignified and respectful
way.
I will also support you in designing a practical action plan and in doing
small things consistently in strategic places creating major positive
impact. It's amazing how far small steps can take us if done consistently
over time.

I employ a learning paradigm for my
coaching work. I find that a learning paradigm offers certain advantages
over a therapeutic or healing paradigm. In the latter, you must identify a
wound or something wrong with you before you can get better. The
learning paradigm does not presume anything wrong with you - it simply
presents things you can learn to make your life and work more easeful and
productive.
In addition, the therapy paradigm often
focuses on past events, presumable the price of a more positive present.
While this may sometime occur, the therapy paradigm often keeps people
trapped in the past, perceiving themselves as victims, at the effect of
what has happened. The learning paradigm, however, invites you to
take full, celebratory responsibility for your life, identify goals for
the future, make commitments in the present, fulfill those commitments,
and create a life of your own design. The act of doing these
things may pull past events to the surface, but they emerge in the context
of a forward-looking journey to the future, not in a reference back
to the past.

I am an experienced clinician, a
licensed psychotherapist, who has graduated from an intensive training
program in coaching in additional to my professional degree. I have both a
therapy practice and a coaching practice. My clinical background makes me
an excellent listener, able to hear what you want to achieve, to identify
the stumbling blocks that are holding you back, to provide respectful and
constructive feedback and help you generate problem solving options and an
action plan that will get you moving in the direction that will produce
the results you want. I know how to motivate and I have a huge repertoire
of skills to transform unconscious blocks into conscious action.
As a therapist, I have been trained to
maintain the highest ethical standards. I know the importance of
confidentiality and put your needs first. My capacity for empathy and
compassion create a safe space for us to work.
