"After all, computers crash, people die,
relationships fall apart. The best we can do is breath and reboot."
~ Sarah Jessica Parker ~

THE
KEY IS YOUR BREATH
I don't know about you but I have found myself
triggered by fear more than once in the past few months. I don't know of
anyone really who hasn't had a bout of the blue devils with all the bad
news we are continuously bombarded with, in addition to those investment
statements that don't seem to be headed in the intended direction.
It is impossible to completely eliminate fear from
your life -- nor would you want to. Fear is one of the emotions we as
humans are gifted with to use as a survival tool. Fear tells us to PAY
ATTENTION we are entering new territory.
Sounds like good advice. We are entering new
territory, not only in the U.S. but globally as well. So the advice to PAY
ATTENTION sounds prudent.
The first place to pay attention is your breath.
When you notice yourself agitated or anxious, allow yourself to pause and
give your attention to your breath. Observe your breath. Notice what is
present.
Whatever is present be fully with it. Notice the
sensations in your solar plexus. Notice the thoughts that may be racing in
your mind.
Notice whatever is present and while you are
noticing deepen your breath, breathing slowly, deeply and consciously into
your solar plexus. In a short time you will notice a shift.
The act of noticing will support you in finding
calm. You will notice in the midst of the calm there is also curiosity for
possibilities. From this place it is easier to wonder about what you can
create out of the current situation.
We are way more creative when we are calm and able
to focus on possibilities. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens
when you are making other plans." Here we are in the middle of life
happening. It serves us to calm ourselves down so we can meet what is with
creativity and power.

GOOD
NEWS: A CLIENT WIN -- AND A WIN FOR ME
Sheldon Zeiger, JD has recently fulfilled a long
standing dream by publishing the book, "Stick it to Your Ticket, The
Unofficial Guide to Beating Your Parking Ticket in Chicago". This
book provides practical tools to avoid or beat a parking ticket in
Chicago.
If you own a car and you drive and park in the city
of Chicago, you'll be glad you bought this book.
I am.
I was given a bogus ticket in December of last year.
There were no signs saying where I parked was illegal, yet there was a
ticket with a $60 fine. In the past, not knowing my options I would have
paid the ticket. Instead, using Shelly's guidance I contested. The hearing
officer dismissed the ticket because it was bogus. That's $60 that stayed
in my pocket versus making a contribution to the Chicago bailout.
A WIN for me.
