"Discipline is remembering what you
want."
~ David Campbell ~

HOLDING
TRUE TO WHAT YOU WANT
I recently did a cleanse which consisted of drinking
water with lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper throughout the day
and nothing else. I stayed on it for 14 days and then took three days to
gracefully transition back into eating solid food.
The first day was a doozy as I had been a coffee
drinker and the caffeine withdrawal headache had me down and out. I laid
in the hammock doing my best to be as still as possible hoping the pain
would go away. It did not.
Though the headache had eased up quite a bit on day
two, it didn't fully and completely go away until day four.
You may be wondering why would I choose to endure
this level of discomfort? I had a goal. I was taking action on my own
behalf to support a greater level of vitality and health. This vision of
possibility for me kept me on track and supported my willingness to be
with whatever showed up along the way.
If I had made the headache more important than the
outcome I would have given up and ran for a cup of coffee thus alleviating
the present discomfort.
How many times do we do that? Give up when the going
gets challenging, indulging in a moment of relief, of pleasure, instant
gratification, instead of enduring until the end, and creating something
even better, the satisfaction of completion and creating what we REALLY
want?
Keeping our eyes on our goal, remembering what we
really want, encouraging ourselves to take one more step, and then
another, this is what gets us through the challenges that are inevitable
in the face of change.
You can do it!
