ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS

As we move towards the end of 2008 it serves to bring closure to the year. It is a rich time to harvest the year and gather seeds to plant for 2009.

I know as a person choosing to live by design you have set some goals this year and have taken action towards making them happen. You have succeeded in some areas and not in others. Life is like that.

We, as humans have an enormous capacity to remember our failures while forgetting our successes. To focus on what remains incomplete, rather than celebrating what has been accomplished.

I encourage you to counter that tendency by setting time aside in the next week to sit down and jot down what you HAVE accomplished this year. Getting in touch with what you have manifested will give you inspiration and energy to tackle what is left undone.

Just because you didn't reach a goal doesn't mean you have failed. It only serves to remind us that deadlines are arbitrary and you just haven't reached your goal -- yet.

A successful person is someone who finds the willingness to take action on their goals and to keep going until they cross the finish line.

If you haven't crossed that finish line -- yet -- that's okay. Keep going until you do. Remember the difference between those who truly succeed in living by design and those who don't is that those who succeed take ACTION. Consistent, continuous, ongoing action.

Take time to reflect over this past year and jot down your accomplishments. Write down everything you can think of. Yea You!

Even if you have just finished a difficult year, you have still learned lessons and experienced personal growth while dealing with tough circumstances. It’s even more important to acknowledge and appreciate yourself and how you faced the adversity and overcame the challenges.

In addition to assessing this year’s successes it also serves to look at what did not happen, remembering a wise saying by the Dali Lama, that "not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck." Remember, we go for our dreams with the insurance clause, "This or something greater for the highest good of all concerned." What good fortune has come to you as a result of not getting what you thought you wanted?

Once you have harvested the gifts of the past year you are ready to focus on where you want to be a year from now. For support in writing out your vision, designing an action plan and setting goals, sign up for my *Free* Living by Design eCourse.

"I haven’t a clue as to how my story will end. But that’s all right. When you set out on a journey and night covers the road, you don’t conclude that the road has vanished. And how else could we discover the stars?"
