THE GRATITUDE MOVE

Gratitude is a way of being in which we are willing to see the blessing in everything occurring in life. The practice of gratitude is a way to open our hearts to life and find the gifts here for us.

Many of us have the process backwards: we wait to see if there is something to be grateful for before we choose to be grateful. What we are doing is waiting to see if life will show up the way we want it so we can appreciate life doing it our way.

I'm going to give you a gift right now. Use it or not - you choose. AND if you choose to use it -- prepare yourself for a change in the experience of your life.

Ready?

<<<>>> The Gratitude Move <<<>>>

Shift your focus from what you can’t do and don’t have to what you can do and do have.

True gratitude is about embracing life the way it is, taking whatever is in your life and finding the gift for which you are grateful. To be grateful for what you have in the moment and who you are in the moment; to appreciate what you have and who you are, is a transformative shift.

One of the things that fuels our blind consumerism in life is the belief if we eat enough, buy enough, have enough, maybe then we’ll have a sense of satisfaction inside. Yet we find the opposite is true. When we eat, and buy, and consume out of a sense of vacancy inside, the vacancy actually grows bigger.

As a matter of fact, the emptiness we sometimes have, right before we eat when we’re not hungry, buy something we really don’t want, seems to get filled with the practice of gratitude.

Gratitude is a big dose of what we all can use right now as we each deal with whatever is ours to deal with as a result of the economic correction we are facing. Let's stuff our turkeys with cranberries, appreciations, and awareness of the abundance of blessings which are present right now.

You may need to train yourself to be grateful. A way to cultivate awareness and grow in any experience is to pay attention. Pay attention by tracking your awareness and write down specific things, people, situations, experiences for which you are grateful.

Your willingness to track at least three ‘gratitudes’ daily will serve you tremendously. You may find during the time you are going for your goals, and you hit some disturbance as you exit your comfort zone, it is empowering to look at those things you are grateful for in the past few weeks. You may be surprised as to how this fuels you and gives you fortitude to proceed.

Gratitude satisfies. When we are fulfilled there is a natural consequence of centeredness and empowerment. It is then easier to take action towards our goals, to nurture ourselves and to genuinely make a contribution to others.
