"There is no right or wrong, we formulate
our own paths."
~ Arthur Maderson ~
WHAT IS
TRUTH?
There is truth and there is truth. In other words,
truth is relative. Truth is based on our perception of reality. How do we
choose to process the 4 billion bits of data that are incoming every
second? Our brain can only process something like 2000 bits at a time.
Clearly there is a filtering going on in our brains. Which of the bits do
we actually process?
How we filter the incoming data will result in the
experience we have. We erroneously call that truth. But it is not. It is
merely our interpretation based on how we are sorting the information.
Next time you find yourself convinced that what you
are experiencing is true, ask yourself "is there another way to
formulate the data?" Or, "is there data available that I have
not even processed that would shift my perception of reality?"
In her book, "Loving What Is", Byron Katie
tells a funny story. She was in a public restroom and entered a stall. She
looked down at the toilet seat and noticed it was wet. She was
automatically triggered into an internal rant about the discourteousness
of the person who had been in the stall before her.
She wiped down the seat and did what she was there
to do, flushed the toilet and discovered water all over the seat. She then
realized there was a mechanical problem, not a human one. With new data
her reality shifted. She was living in new 'truth'.
We get fixated on a particular point of view,
believing that we are right, yet there is no such thing as one right
answer. There is always more than one right answer.
Next time you are convinced that you are right, ask
yourself, hmmm, could there be another right answer here? And if there is
one more right answer, could there be three or more?
Notice if this exercise relaxes you into a greater
place of openness and acceptance. When we are open and accepting there is
a greater ease and peacefulness as well as greater access to our
creativity. And when we have access to our creativity we are more able to
live by design, rather than by default.

EXCITING
NEWS
I now have a second office in Geneva, IL. Just 7
miles
from my home. Many of you know I drive 54 miles one way
to get to my Chicago office. The trip is worth it because
I get to see all my terrific clients AND live in a beautiful
place.
If you'd rather drive to Geneva for an appointment
(a great
town for walking and shopping) rather than Chicago, call
(312) 409-0686 or email me, leslie@living-bydesign.com
and you can see what I have just manifested. More about
my new office in an upcoming newsletter.
Of course if you live too far to drive to either
location
I will happily work with you via telephone.
