ANOTHER
WAY TO PRAY (part 2)
CREATING A TREASURE MAP/VISION BOARD
(Click
Here for Part 1)
Last newsletter I suggested you create a Living
Vision. This week I’m encouraging you to make your vision even MORE
powerful.
Over the next few weeks, begin to look in magazines,
on line, junk mail, wherever you find them, for images that represent your
Living Vision. Cut them out and put them in a pile. Also cut out words or
phrases that hold the energy of what you REaLLy want.
The emphasis is on creating your heart’s desire,
not picturing stuff to be acquired. During this phase your job is to
collect photos and phrases that represent your deepest wants.
The next step is to look through what you have
gathered with the intention of keeping only those images and words that
truly represent your innermost desires. Those that do not can be put away
for another time.
Use your heart’s criteria as you make your
selections.
Now you are ready to assemble your collage, which
will be your Treasure Map. You will need something to paste your pictures
onto. You can select any size poster board you feel comfortable using.
Begin to arrange your images and words on your
poster board. Play with this. Make sure it feels right. This is an
intuitive process. Allow this process to unfold in it’s own way. Allow
your creative self to be in charge. Trust yourself to know when your
collage is laid out the way you want.
Next, glue your images and words to the paper the
way you have laid them out. Have on your treasure map/vision board the
words, “This or Something Greater for the Greatest Good of All
Concerned.”
When you are done, step back and look at what you
have created. Allow yourself to wonder what you are saying to yourself.
You will probably see things that were not visible to you before. What
does your treasure map/vision board say? What surprises does it have for
you?
Take time to write down your impressions. Let your
left brain (verbal) articulate what the right brain (art) has expressed.
Don’t spend any time thinking about the ‘how’
of making this dream a reality. Right now you are allowing yourself to
discover your ‘what’.
You have just designed a visual affirmation or
prayer describing your heart’s desire. Embrace what you want. Say yes to
your desire. Choose to allow yourself to have it. Commit to doing whatever
it takes to make what you want happen.
The more you look at your treasure map/vision board
the more you reinforce in your imagination what you want. By doing so you
trigger your creativity in designing actions that will manifest your
vision.
Turn your vision over to the creative power within
you, and your partner, The Creative Power. Take the actions your creative
self offers you. Trust you will be guided to the actions that will make
your dreams a reality.

CONTRIBUTION
FROM A READER:
I was finishing a book last night, “Left to Tell”
by Immaculee Ilibagiza who survived the 1994 Rowandan genocide with much
personal loss and suffering and was witness to unfathomable hatred and
murder. She attributes her survival to her faith and to the power of
prayer. Leslie’s last
article talks about “another way to pray.” Leslie talks
about creating a Living Vision and in the book "Left to Tell"
Immaculee says this:
“I was living proof of the power of prayer and
positive thinking, which really are almost the same thing. God is the
source of all positive energy, and prayer is the best way to tap in to his
power." This spoke to me in relation to an exchange I had yesterday
with Leslie on prayer and channeling your positive energy (no matter what
your personal theological beliefs).
Sometimes something just clicks, and suddenly the
line Leslie suggests we insert at the end of these statements —This or
Something Greater for the Highest Good of All Concerned — has greater
meaning for me. This ah-ha has helped me to quell the nagging inner voice
that is always telling me how selfish it is to ask for what I want. In
this statement I am reminded that a happier, more centered me can
contribute much more positively to others.
Also in Immaculee’s story, she uses the technique
of visioning what she wants, asking for it specifically, seeing it,
imagining if it were real. It’s almost as if she took Leslie’s class.
Although the book was quite disturbing for someone who lives in the pretty
little suburbs of the Midwest, it was a great read and spoke volumes about
faith, but also about making a plan, being resolved to that plan and
taking positive action.
Thank you, Leslie, for helping me to open my eyes to
the power of my own positive energy, and to the rest of you for your
sharing. What a great experience this is.
