A MAGICAL TOOL

When I was teaching the Living by Design Course in the summer, one of the participants jokingly said I could teach an LBD course for witches and wizards! (Book 7 of the Harry Potter series had just come out.)

Let me explain. You cannot do magic unless you know what you want. Then you cast the appropriate spell, jinx, hex, charm, make the potion, do whatever, that will serve your intention.

It is essential to be clear about your intended outcome, otherwise your magic may go astray. The same is true for us muggles (non-magical people). We need to know what we want so that we can take the appropriate actions that will take us to our goals.

Holding a clear vision is essential to the creative process. You can't sorta wanna turn that mouse into a teacup. You have to clearly hold an image of a teacup before you cast your spell, otherwise you may find your teacup has mouse ears and a tail.

Not only do you want to see the end result, you want to imagine what it will feel like to be living with the results created. A friend of mine is about to leave on a tour of France for two weeks. In her imagination she is already browsing through the shops, sitting in outdoor cafes, and feasting on the beauty of the countryside.

This week I was having a bit of computer trouble. I decided to take it in to my local tech to see what could be done. I was going to do this on the way to my office. Before I got out of bed that morning I envisioned a smooth traffic-free, easy drive to the store. I saw myself being taken on time, even early. I saw the tech handling my issue in no more than five minutes, leaving me plenty of time to get to work.

In actuality I arrived early and was taken early, and the rest of my vision happened as I had imagined.

Holding a clear vision opened me up to the possibilities I preferred. In that open place I believe there is a magic that supports us in creating that which we envision. Hmmm, maybe that makes us magical as well.

Knowing what you want is the first step in the creative process. I'd like you to ask yourself right now if you want to join me in the upcoming Living by Design course that begins next week, September 26th. There are still a few more spots left and I’d love to have you join us.

QUOTES

"The key to success is to create a vision of who you want to be, and then picture it as if it has already happened."
   ~ Arnold Schwarzenegger ~

PRACTICALLY SPEAKING

Notice where you are placing your attention. Are you imagining results that serve what you really want? If not, change the picture, and consciously choose to envision the outcome you prefer.

WONDER QUESTION:

Are you willing to know what you REALLY want?
