SLOWING
DOWN TO LISTEN
Have you ever had a niggle? Some call it an
intuition. Have you ever had an insight and not followed through with the
inner information? A sense to check your tires, and then ending up dealing
with a flat tire? A small warning something was 'off' with your computer,
then having it crash and losing valuable data. A thought of an umbrella
while walking out into a sunny morning only to find yourself in a downpour
a few hours later.
A client of mine was ready to go on a trip to
France. She couldn't find her passport. It was two days before departure.
Panic ensued. Where is it?! She and two others searched high and low for
the missing item. "I know it's here," she insisted. No one found
it.
She had a sense a few weeks earlier to pull it and
set it aside with her ticket. She didn't do so. Now it is two days before
her flight and no passport.
While the search was in progress, she had a thought
to ask everyone to leave the room so she could sit quietly, but didn't do
that either.
Ten hours later, after schlepping all over town,
picking up her birth certificate, waiting in line to see a passport agent,
paying high fees for expedited service, she and I were on the phone. We
were exploring the learning available from the situation. A few things
popped out. To continue to learn how to simplify and declutter her space.
To learn to slow down and breathe in the face of 'something happening.'
And, to learn to listen to her intuition.
In that moment, in the quiet she had created from
her inner listening she had an insight and shouted in the phone,
"Leslie, you won't believe it."
"What?"
"I just found my passport!"
"Where was it?"
"Right here in the drawer. When I was sitting
quietly I saw it in my mind and my hand automatically reached in and
pulled it out!"
We wondered if she had taken a moment to listen to
herself earlier that day, might she have found it and saved herself a ten
hour trek around the city in the attempts to create something she already
had.
A friend of mine likes to ask, "Do you want the
information, or would you like the lesson?" We can listen to our
inner guidance and make choices accordingly, or we can learn the hard way.
The key for me is slowing down to listen.

REQUEST
AND GIFT
I am writing a book on forgiveness. If you would
like to contribute you can do one or both of two things:
- ask me any questions you might have about
forgiveness, what is it, how to do it, why do it.....
- send me any story you may have about how
forgiveness, forgiving yourself or another has changed your life, even
in small ways.
Once I have received your questions or story I will
send you a link - and you can hear the audio of the interview I did on the

PRACTICALLY SPEAKING
Practice listening within. Train yourself to notice
inner guidance and direction. You might be surprised to discover there is
a voice that is knowing within.
A way to develop this inner listening is to pause
periodically, turn your attention inward, and listen.
WONDER QUESTION:
Are you willing to listen to your inner voice, and
attend to it's guidance?
