IN THIS ISSUE

BECOMING AN EVERYDAY PEACEMAKER

What does it mean to be an ordinary peacemaker? We tend to see a peacemaker as some high powered diplomat who is sent to have a conversation with an opposing force. Something outside of ourselves to do the work of peace.

In truth there is no peace, but the peace that dwells within. And the way each one of us can take responsibility for bringing greater peace to the planet is to learn how to quiet, calm, embrace, and love everything inside of us.

This goes back to choosing to be a victim of external forces or choosing to be a creative responsible human being. The only thing we have influence over is ourselves.

If each one of us was willing to take responsibility for the experience we are having in the world, the world would be a different place. We'd stop blaming other people for our circumstances, we'd instead embrace whatever experience we're having from a place of learning, growing, and advancement.

Take something appearing in your life right now as a block, restriction, unfortunate occurrence, difficult relationship. Notice how you are relating to the issue. Often you will discover that you are arguing with it, fighting it, resisting it.

Remember, 'the issue is not the issue, it's how we relate to the issue that is the issue'. If you are arguing with, fighting against, resisting, well, that's your issue! That is what you are creating! And what you focus on increases.

Our behavior produces results. There are consequences to our actions. When we meet a consequence we do not like - instead of blaming the circumstance - ask yourself - how did I set it up for me to be here in this moment in this way???

Then wonder....Hmmm, I set this up so I could learn _____ .

Embracing what is and discovering how the experience is serving you is key to the process of peace.

Become an ordinary peacemaker, embrace what is, and use everything for your learning, growth, and advancement.

QUOTES

"When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us."
   ~The Dalai Lama ~

"Nothing can bring you peace but yourself."
   ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

REQUEST AND GIFT

I am writing a book on forgiveness. If you would like to contribute you can do one or both of two things:

  1. ask me any questions you might have about forgiveness, what is it, how to do it, why do it.....
  2. send me any story you may have about how forgiveness, forgiving yourself or another has changed your life, even in small ways.

Once I have received your questions or story I will send you a link - and you can hear the audio of the interview I did on the topic of forgiveness.

Thanks!

PRACTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Practice acceptance - meeting whatever occurs in your life with a hello, I accept you as you are.
  • Even if you don't like it.
  • That's it - acceptance is the key to becoming an everyday peacemaker.

WONDER QUESTION:

  • Are you willing to give up fighting with what is and choose acceptance?
  • Are you willing to harness the power of acceptance so that you can cooperate with what is in service to your learning, growth and advancement?
