IS CHANGE THE ENEMY
Meeting the Challenge of Change, Part 4

Even though change is a consistent fabric of life, many of us are challenged by change. Many of us structure our lives in a way so that change happens minimally and when it does, it is experienced as a catastrophe.

Yet change is. Life is change. Nothing in this world remains the same. We are in constant movement.

Human beings are interpretation machines, we are continually making up stories to create meaning for us in life. What are you telling yourself in the face of change?

We have structured an identity that we focus upon to fabricate a sense of consistency and order in our lives. And when 'something happens' to upset that order many of us struggle.

We struggle because we have interpreted that whatever happened is against us in some way and so we suffer.

In truth we don't know how things are, all we really know is how we observe them or interpret them to be. If we change the stories - the way we habitually interpret the experiences of our lives - we will change our lives!

One of the stories many of us have made up is that change is our adversary and needs to be resisted. Does this interpretation limit or empower you?

Does the belief that change is a problem open or close you to possibilities?

Which meaning would serve you, give you a greater ability for action, for moving forward in your life: that change is the enemy or change is your friend?

If we want to meet the challenge of change why not choose the interpretation that change is your friend. Choosing to focus on change as a friend will help guide your focus and find positive outcomes.

Once those outcomes have been determined you might ask, "What is my learning opportunity? What actions do I need to take in order to be successful?"

We have incredible power. We have the power to CHANGE the meaning of anything. Change the meaning, change the action, change the results, change your life!
