YOUR NETWORK OF SUPPORT
Powerful People Make Things Easy (Part 23)

(This article is a continuation of a series about our personal power to create the life we want)

Are you working to create a happy balanced life of your own design all by yourself?

I have a client who was complaining about herself: "What's wrong with me? I need all these people to help me out. There is you, and my personal trainer, and my acting coach, and my business advisor, personal assistant, and my therapist. Am I that messed up?"

My answer to her was that instead of being a mess, I considered her wise. I reminded her we all need many levels of support in order to thrive. I commended her for being smart enough to create her own community of support so she can grow into all she was meant to be.

Not having that community, not asking others for what we need is like jogging in place. We can see the destination up ahead of us. We work harder and harder, and never seem to get there. Eventually we may become discouraged enough to give up. Creating a support system that can help you put one foot in front of the other on a path of your choosing is a gift you can give yourself.

It's important to remember that we're multi dimensional beings and therefore we're worthy of many levels of support. Anything from a therapist, to a personal trainer, to a chiropractor, to a nutritionist, a financial advisor, to a coach and more. We all require different supports, and it is important to learn to ask for the support we need.

For example: - Personal trainers, chiropractors and nutritionists help us to become and remain healthy.

- Financial advisors help us with financial stability and growth

- Coaches tie it all together by supporting individuals and their well being on all levels. They help us to identify our desires and take action to accomplish our goals and live our dreams. (If you're not familiar with coaching and want to learn more, visit http:www.living-bydesign.com )

- Personal assistants, bookkeepers, household helpers, keep us on top of the details

- Etc.

Remember, a person who is aware that they cannot do everything, know everything, accomplish everything on their own, and asks for support is a wise and powerful person. When they ask for and receive expert guidance to facilitate their lives, they empower their success.

It is our human need to grow and develop into our greatest self. Are you taking care of your need to learn and grow? Are you asking for what you need to thrive?

PRACTICALLY SPEAKING:

  • Notice an area where you feel stuck, disturbed or upset. What isn't occurring that you want to occur? Or what is occurring that you wish was not?
  • What do you want or need instead?
  • Who can you ask?
  • Remember a request is an open statement - allowing the other the dignity of a yes or a no, or a negotiation for something else.
  • It is important to allow ourselves to ask because the request informs us of our needs, wants and desires. Once the request is made - we can bring our own creativity forward and discover alternative ways to meet our request if the person we are asking chooses to decline.
  • Requesting is part of our creative process.

  • Are you willing to receive the support you need to experience satisfaction and fulfillment?
  • What is your next action?
