THE POWER OF CHOOSING WHAT YOU WANT
LIVING BY DESIGN
(Part 13)

(This article is a continuation in a series about the creative process.)

What if you were to look at your life, as it is right now and claim creativity? In other words, let yourself know on some level you created, promoted, or allowed what has occurred in your life.

Look around inside and out and notice the tapestry of your life. Notice what it consists of. Look at your health, your relationships, your work, your home, your finances.

Say aloud, or to yourself, “I created this!”

Say it until it is just what it is. For example, when you look at your watch and see that it is 3:12 p.m., you accept that that is what is, it is 3:12 p.m.

Allow yourself to accept that you have created these outcomes.

Now what?

Celebrate your ability to create. Whether you prefer what you have or not, what you have exists. Why not accept what is, embrace what is, even, dare I suggest, enjoy what is.

What now?

When we claim our life the way it is, we open ourselves up to learning and growth. If what you have is not what you’d prefer, then ask yourself some questions: “I created this because???? I needed this because???? I set this all up so I could learn?????”

The moment you realize that the way it is, is the way you created it (usually on some unconscious level), you unleash a powerful force, an energy you can utilize to create what you really want.

What do you really want?

What a great question to ask at the beginning of a new year. You can now use the energy of acceptance to fuel your actions and create with conscious intention.

QUOTES:

“When you actively choose what is already happening, you take ownership of the situation and cease to be a victim of it.”

PRACTICALLY SPEAKING:

  • When noticing your creations, conscious or otherwise, ask yourself:
  • “What can I learn from this situation, and how can I apply my learning?”
  • Claim creativity by asking yourself:
  • - “How did I create . . . ?”

    - “How did I allow . . . ?”

    - “How did I promote . . .?”

  • Celebrate your ability to create. Ask yourself: “What do I really want?”
  • Use structural tension (see previous articles) to choose what you really want. Allow your creations to be conscious and intentional.

WONDER QUESTIONS:

  • Are you willing to be a person of true creative power?
  • Are you willing to claim creativity for your life?
  • Are you willing to choose what you have in order to have what you want?
