ACTION
TRANSLATES DREAMS INTO REALITY
LIVING
BY DESIGN
(Part 4)
(This article is a continuation in a series
about the creative process.)
Perhaps you've had a dream of going to Nepal. And
you've written out your goal, in a clear and specific way, and made a
treasure map. Great. Now for the next part. Action. Doing does it. It's
time to create an action plan.
What would it take for you to begin living your
dreams? Make a list of to do's that will bring forward what it is you are
desiring to create. What are next step actions that you can take in order
to bring you closer to your goal? An action is defined as anything that
can be completed in one step. 'Call travel agent' is an example. 'Purchase
stairmaster' another.
Each time you complete an action, give yourself an
"atta girl" or "atta boy." Remember, large successes
are an accumulation of small success. The more we can celebrate each
action, each completion, the more momentum we will build to use in
completing the next action.
If I have a big project that I want to create, I
find it supportive to take at least one action each day. An object in
motion tends to stay in motion. Sometimes I'll take more, but I usually
challenge myself with a minimum of one action to support me in manifesting
my intended outcome.
You will be the one determining your goals and the
actions you wish to take to achieve those goals. The key is action. Real,
measurable, tangible ACTION.
When my husband and I decided to add a dog to our
household (a project), I began to take daily actions in order to bring in
the kind of dog that would work for us. First, we created an ideal scene
(many of my clients have seen it).
Then, as I was ignorant about dogs and training, I
put myself in school. I read something, or researched vets, or breeders,
or training schools, visited litters, and researched dog nutrition. I even
received "dog coaching" from a woman who raises service dogs.
Every day I did SOMETHING that moved me closer to my goal.
Many of you have met my goal, Kelsi, who accompanies
me to work as a certified therapy dog. Without action, she would merely be
a dream, a thought, a wish.
Begin taking action....trek to Nepal:
... get legs in shape - calendar workouts ... shop
for gear ... organize equipment ... set aside money ... call travel agent
... Send me a postcard.

PRACTICALLY SPEAKING:
- Start with your vision . . write it down . . make
a mini treasure map . . . make it fun . . . draw on the pages . . .
use support pictures and words from magazines . . . whatever makes
your goal alive and real for you.
- Review your vision a minimum of once a week to
keep it vital.
- Weekly make a list of action steps you can
complete within the week.. Make sure these steps are doable and
achievable in the time period you commit to. Remember: Action
translates dreams into reality.

dreams into reality?
