WRITE
IT DOWN, MAKE A PICTURE
LIVING
BY DESIGN
(Part 3)
(This article is a continuation in a series
about the creative process.)
Creative visualization is the process using your
imagination to support you in the manifestation of what you want in your
life. We visualize every day, every minute in fact.
Most of us use our imaginations in a relatively
unconscious way. We are not aware of the fact that our imagination creates
our focus, and what we focus on, we move towards. We attract into our
lives what we think about often, believe in most strongly, imagine most
vividly.
It is beneficial to become conscious about the power
of our imagination and to utilize this power in a way that serves the
creation of what we truly want. When we create something, we create it
first in thought form. "I think I'll go for a drive," precedes
getting into the car. A builder has an image, then takes that image into
the action of building a house.
There is great power in taking thought and imagining
and writing down what you want. Putting what you want on paper alerts the
part of your brain known as the reticular activating system. This is the
part of the brain that sorts through the tremendous amount of input we are
continually receiving. When you write down what you want, you are, in a
way, programming this part of your brain to sort through and evaluate
incoming data. It's like a filtering system.
If you've just bought yourself a new silver Toyota,
all of a sudden you see the very same silver Toyota everywhere you go.
Where are they all coming from? Your reticular activating system is
sorting through incoming data and showing you what last week you weren't
paying attention to.
Putting what you want in writing is like buying your
new Toyota, it sets your filtering system up to trigger you to be aware of
certain things in your surroundings. Once you write down a goal, your
brain will be working for you to see that you get it.
Taking this process one step further is expanding
what you want from writing into pictures. Making a collage or a treasure
map is a very powerful technique, and fun to do. A treasure map is an
actual, physical picture of your desired reality. It is valuable because
it forms an especially clear, sharp image which can then attract and focus
energy into your goal. It works along the same lines as a blueprint for a
building.
You can make a treasure map by drawing or painting
it, or by making a collage using pictures and words cut from magazines,
books, or cards, photographs, lettering, etc. Don't worry if you're not
artistically accomplished. Simple, childlike treasure maps are just as
powerful and effective as great works of art.
Now it is your turn. Write it down. Make a treasure
map. Follow your own creative impulse. Have fun!

QUOTES:
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can.
Begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now."
~ Goethe ~
"Every moment of your life is infinitely
creative and the universe is endlessly bountiful. Just put forth a clear
enough request, and everything your heart desires must come to you."
~ Shakti Gawain ~

PRACTICALLY SPEAKING:
Basically the treasure map should show you in your
ideal scene, with your goal fully realized. Here are some
guidelines/suggestions. Make it up your way. Do what works for you.
- Do a treasure map for a single goal or area of
your life, so that you can be sure to include all the elements without
getting too complicated. This enables the mind to focus on it more
clearly and easily than if you included all your goals on one map. You
may want to do one map for your relationships, one for your job, for
your spiritual growth, and so on.
- You can make it a size that is convenient for
you. You may want to keep it in your notebook, hang it on your wall,
whatever.
- Be sure to put yourself in the picture. For a
very realistic effect, use a photo of yourself. Otherwise draw
yourself in. Show yourself being, doing, or having your desired
objective - traveling around the world, weighing your naturally thin
weight, wearing your new clothes, etc.
- Show the situation in its ideal, complete form,
as if it already exists. You don't need to indicate HOW it is going to
come about. This is the finished product. Don't show anything negative
or undesirable. You are representing the vision of what you want.
- Use lots of color in your treasure map to
increase the power and the impact on your consciousness.
- Show yourself in a real setting; make it look
believable to you.
- Include some symbol of the infinite which has
meaning and power for you. This is an acknowledgement and reminder
that everything comes from the infinite source.
- On the top put "This or something greater
for the highest good of all concerned," as an insurance
protection. You want what will serve you in the long run and serve
everyone involved in the process of your attainment.
- Make a declaration: "I commit to manifesting
this, and doing whatever it takes to bring this into my life" Say
it aloud, breathe, until you can feel this declaration in every cell
of your body, and you can hear a clear "YES!"
The process of creating your map will initiate the
manifestation process. To achieve maximum results spend a few quiet
moments looking at it every day, and every once in a while, throughout the
day, give it a thought. Repeat your commitment aloud. Open yourself to
receive!
As an insurance policy add to all your ideal
scenes, dreams, or goal statements: "This or something greater
for the Highest Good of All Concerned." This enables you to ask
freely for what you want without being concerned that you or anyone
else will be harmed by your success, and only that which is for your
greatest unfoldment, expansion and growth will come to you.

WONDER QUESTIONS:
- What do I really want?
- Am I willing to have what I want?
- Is it okay for me to have more than I ask for?
- Am I willing to be the predominant creative force
in my life?
