ARE YOU
WILLING?
When we see where we are in contrast to where we
want to be, and it seems like such vast uncharted territory, we often
contract into fear and yearn to stay in the familiar, the comfort zone.
How can we move from the familiar into the unknown
with ease? We ask, "Am I willing? Am I willing to step out of my
comfort zone to have what I want?"
What is it to be willing? According to Webster it is
1) being favorably disposed to do something specified; 2) choosing without
reluctance; 3) acting, giving, readily and cheerfully; 4) of the power of
choice; volitional.
We see by these definitions that our willingness
shifts us to the place of true creative power. When I am willing, I am
choosing something specific and readily taking action.
It doesn't matter if you are scared or excited. What
matters is that you are willing. Once you become willing your dream, your
goal, your commitment will pull you forward. And your willingness will
guide you to those action steps that will take you to your desired
outcome.
It is irrelevant that you know what to do, or how to
accomplish what you are willing to experience. What is essential is that
you are willing. The willingness will guide your discovery of the how, it
will shape your learning, it will call you forward into action.
Notice what comes up when you ask yourself, "Am
I willing to do whatever it takes to bring my goal, (dream, commitment),
into reality?"
Whatever you notice, give yourself loving
appreciation. Be sensitively aware. Appreciate that whenever we open
ourselves up to embrace something new, we often will have a response, a
tangible physical, emotional, mental level response.
Whenever we open up to a new place, racy, queasy,
butterflies stirring in the belly come with the territory. When we get to
the edge of our comfort zone and step out of it, we are, by definition,
going to be uncomfortable. That goes with the experience of growth and
that can be looked at as feedback that you are on course. On course in
moving toward your intended destination.
Sometimes we will discover that we are not willing
to do whatever it takes. This discover is a gift because we can get honest
with ourselves, let go of thinking about wanting it, and take that energy
and utilize it elsewhere.
If we really want what we want, we must become
willing to do, be and have whatever it takes. Including the willingness to
be uncomfortable, to not know, to make mistakes, to keep taking action as
you travel towards your goal.
Remember the first step is to be willing. It is
essential. It is your source of true creative power.
