Sharing
Appreciation by Leslie Karen Sann, MA, LCPC
Little Things
Make a Big Difference
It is foolish to think we can accomplish anything
without assistance. Knowing how to make a request, and appreciating the
resources available to us are essential ingredients in manifesting
success. Sharing appreciation brings a positive focus to our life and it
helps in promoting successful relationships.
Appreciation shifts our focus towards gratitude
which is indeed a close relative to joy.
Examples of Statements of
Appreciation:
"One thing about you I really appreciate is
____."
(Examples: the way you express yourself; how beautifully you arrange
flowers; the kindness of your heart)
"I appreciate the way you ____."
(Examples: can make delicious food without a recipe, how efficiently you
run this office, how graciously you welcome people)
"I appreciate the way you've helped me to
grow by ____ ." (Examples: showing me the value of patience,
teaching me how to tend a garden, being a true friend)
"One thing I appreciate, that I have
sometimes taken for granted, is ___ ."
(Examples: how you do your best to see my side of things; how easy you
are to get along with; how much you like to play)
"I appreciate that you've brought into my
world ___."
(Examples: organic vegetables freshly picked from your garden; your zest
for travel and adventure; the poetry you write and share with me)
"In your interactions with others, I
appreciate the way you ___."
(Examples: share your humor and light up a room; listen deeply; make
people feel at ease)
It takes no great skill to see what is wrong and
complain about it. A person who is able to see what is good, what is
beautiful, has a gift to give. Why not be that person?
Just For Fun Exercise:
Appreciating Others List the names of 8 people whom you appreciate. After
each name, list one to three qualities that you appreciate about them.
NAME
QUALITIES
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
Place a check next to the names of those people you
would like to express your appreciation to, either in the form of a note,
gift, spoken communication, etc., and deliver those messages to the people
you have selected within the next two weeks.

A Reader Shares a Win:
I have found that taking the first action (step)
facilitates ease and gets me in motion. I am finding energy available for
me to use to create flow through action.
I am spending far less time worrying about what is
not done, because I'm in action - I am participating not avoiding! It's
very cool. ~ M.L. ~
